It’s Christmas time!!! Officially! First December weekend done and despite the summer weather rolling into Melbourne, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Here’s what we got up to.
Saturday started off with Mama (that’s me! I’m still settling into the new job title) going on a 2 hour walk with my ladies, in an effort to loose 25 pounds of baby weight on 6 months. Yeowza. Then after a quick lunch and a South Melbourne Market shop for meats, oysters, cheeses and breads; we were off to Southlands to meet Santa!!! Sofia was excited as can be with lots of cooing and smiling in the Hugabub as we pranced through the mall humming Christmas carols. Well, I did anyways. The minute we get there she falls asleep and we are forced to take the photo with Santa and sleeping Sofia. Although she did give us a yawn during the family shot! Funny enough she woke up about 30 seconds after we get her off Santa’s lap. Darn. Maybe next. We spent the rest of the evening walking on Brighton Beach hoping to catch the sunset but Miss Sofia was sure to let us know she did not like the wind! So off home we went where I wrapped the first of the Christmas gifts to be send to my Brisbane family.
Sunday morning – Christmas tree shopping!!! AJ whisked us off to Sandringham to help choose and transport her tree home. It was my effort to convince the husband to get a real tree this year since we were hosting Christmas for both families (with the exception of my Dad in Brisbane). What an epic fail. Damn his fear of spiders and sensitive skin. Plastic tree from Kmart it is.
Granddad and Grandma Sullivan arrived from England yesterday, bringing along tons of wonderful gifts for Sofia. Christmas felt like it came early with such thoughtful presents not only from them, but from family in England as well. I’m just in love with these handmade presents… An advent calendar made by Grandma (this actually came in the mail last week), a knitted sweater, a quilt/playmat and cloth soft toys from Auntie Sheila. These one of a kind gifts are so beautiful and special and just not as common these days anymore, sadly. I was never given the opportunity to learn the skills so my Grandchildren will sadly not be getting these things from me! Happy that little Sof is spoiled with these items though. We also got the complete Beatrix Potter set with some toys to go with it, cute baby clothes, and some letters spelling Sofia Nicole to go up on the nursery. Yeah!!!
Anyways Christmas is just beginning and there is so much shopping and celebrating to be done! Here’s to my baby Sofia’s first Christmas!!!
